Teen Arrested for Driving 69 MPH Over Speed Limit

The teen was pulled over in the area of Algonquin Road and Ellis Road around around 9:47 p.m. Wednesday.

An 18-year-old Huntley man was arrested Wednesday night after a Lake in the Hills police officer clocked him driving nearly 70 miles per hour over the listed speed limit on Algonquin Road.

The teen, whose name is being withheld since formal charges have yet to be filed, was heading west on Algonquin Road when a Lake in the Hills Police Department officer pulled him over near Ellis Road around 9:47 p.m., said Officer Joe Simms of the LITH Police Department.

The officer used his radar to clock the speed of the teen at 114 mph. Simms said the teen was driving in a 45 mph speed-limit zone.

The teen did not give police  a reason for driving at that speed. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the incident.

The teen was arrested and later released on bond.
