Police: Teen Charged With Possessing Knife at Jacobs Had no Intentions to Harm

The 16-year-old Carpentersville girl now faces a charge of possession or storage of a weapon on school grounds.

A student charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds had no intentions of harming anyone, police said Wednesday.

The 16-year-old Carpentersville girl left the school on May 2 without parent’s permission and was searched when she returned to the school, said Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski. School officials found a pocketknife in her purse.

Since the school has a zero-tolerance policy on knives or other weapons on school grounds, police were called and the teen was taken into custody, Kuzynowski said.
