Police Seize 120 Grams of Marijuana, Arrest Algonquin Men

Police conducted a search of an Algonquin home last week where they said they turned up 120 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and packaging materials.

Police seized 120 grams of marijuana, packaging materials and arrested two Algonquin men on several drug charges last week following a search of an Algonquin home. 

Anthony T. Lira, 20, of Algonquin, was wanted on a warrant for unlawful possession of marijuana and is now charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia following last week's arrest, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Anthony M. Lira, 43, of Algonquin, is charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana, unlawful possession of marijuana, violation of bail bond and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Police said he was on bond for a recent marijuana arrest. 

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Police Narcotics Task Force, Illinois State Police North Central Narcotics Task Force, and Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the search warrant on June 27 at 1120 Fox River Drive, according to the news release. 

Deputies seized 120 grams of marijuana, which has a street value of $1,500; one digital scale; packaging materials; and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. 

Anthony T. Lira was issued a $1,500 bail in the case and is next expected in court on July 17. A $5,000 bail was issued for Anthony M. Lira. He is next expected in court on July 3.
