Police Nab Businesses for Selling Alcohol to Minors

Five businesses have been cited for selling alcohol to minors following a month-long liquor enforcement operation in rural McHenry County. 

The businesses and those accused of selling alcohol to a minor at the business include:  

•  Laurie V. Fennick, 48, at Horizontal's, 7620 Hancock Drive in Wonder Lake
• Loreen L. Robaczewski, 43, at Tammy's Pizza & Pasta, 6817 State Park Road in Spring Grove
• Melissa L. Boettcher, 33, at Dusty's Pizza, 7613 Howe Road in Wonder Lake
• Vaughdean J. Carlson, 43, at Alden Quick Mart, 16420 Route 173 in Alden
• Debbie L. Hall, 43, at Village Market West, 3410 Thompson Road in Wonder Lake

Over the course of the liquor enforcement operation, the sheriff's office used underage volunteers to purchase—or attempt to purchase—alcohol from 28 different businesses across unincorporated McHenry County, according to the news release. 

The volunteers went to bars and taverns as well as retail stores that sold liquor. 

Those accused of selling alcohol to minors were charged with unlawful sale of alcoholic beverage to a minor and are expected to appear before the McHenry County Liquor Commission for a review.

• Wonder Foods, 7505 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake
• Wonder Lake BP, 7517 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake
• Lakeside Liquors, 7407 Hancock Drive, Wonder Lake
• Town Liquors, 1127 W. Algonquin Road, Algonquin
• Mobil Speed Mart, 4407 High Point Road, McHenry
• Suds R Us, 4616 Route 176, Crystal Lake
