A 19-year-old Huntley man is in custody after police found him holding a hammer outside a Lake in the Hills home early today and arrested him for attempting to break into the home.
Daniel W. Bockenhauer, of 11606 Lori Lane in Huntley, now faces several charges in connection with the arrest, including: attempt criminal trespass to residence, criminal trespass to real property and two counts of disorderly conduct, according to a Lake in the Hills Police Department press release.
The Lake in the Hills Police Department was called to the 4000 block of Heron Drive in Lake in the Hills at 2:15 a.m. for a possible home burglary. There police say the found Bockenhauer hiding in the bushes on the side of the home, according to the news release. He was holding a hammer.
Police say Bockenhauer tried to get into the home but was unsuccessful, according to the news release. Police also learned Bockhauer was aware that residents were inside the home at the time he allegedly attempted to break in.
