Police: LITH Man Drives Drunk, Hits Mailboxes

The accident was reported in the 300 block of Hiawatha Drive early on the morning of June 4.

A 26-year-old Lake in the Hills man is accused of drunken driving and plowing down several mailboxes in one Lake in the Hills neighborhood during the early hours of June 5.

Thomas G. Parrott, 301 Apache Drive, was charged Friday with several charges in the incident, including: driving under the influence alcohol, failure to give aid or information after an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper traffic lane use and driving too fast for conditions.

Parrott is accused of driving while intoxicated in the 300 block of Hiawatha Drive, where he hit several mailboxes before leaving the scene, said Sgt. Terry Vollmer of the LITH Police Department. Damage is estimated at less than $100, Vollmer said.

He later was arrested by police. He was not injured in the accident and was released on bond.
