Police Find Body While Searching for Missing Libertyville Woman

The body has not been identified.

Police located a body Tuesday afternoon while searching the unincorporated Libertyville area for Anne Stroll, 64, who was reported missing Dec. 2.

The body, which was found on the 32000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, has not been identified. Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Gurnee Police Department located the body at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

"The incident remains under investigation," said Sgt. Sara Balmes, public information officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office. "Further information will be released as it becomes available."

Anne was reported missing by her husband, Michael, after she didn't return home from a bike ride Dec. 2. The couple lives in the Merit Club subdivision in unincorporated Libertyville.  More information in this related story.

"She usually rides around the neighborhood and is back within a half hour," said Michael.

Verizon, he said, was able to ping Anne's phone, indicating that the phone was likely on the south side of Independence Grove on one of the trails within 200 yards of Route 137.

When Anne didn't return home, Michael said he called 911. Gurnee police and fire officials, bloodhounds, and Lake County Forest Preserves rangers searched Independence Grove Monday night and again Tuesday morning. A helicopter with infrared was also involved in the search.

Gurnee Police Cmdr. William Meyer indicated early Tuesday afternoon that nothing had been found.
