Police Catch Burglar Red-Handed

Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Barrett Drive after a neighbor reported a suspicious person walking around the area.

An accused thief was caught red-handed at an Algonquin home early Monday afternoon.

Police say a 17-year-old male was attempting to steal liquor, a knife and a mail package from a home in the 2200 block of Barrett Drive Feb. 13, when an Algonquin police officer spotted him leaving the house, said Deputy Chief Ed Urban. The officer chased the suspect and apprehended him.

Police were dispatched to the area around 1:06 p.m. after a neighbor reported a suspicious person walking around the area.

The 17-year-old was charged with residential burglary.
