Police: Area Woman Charged After Driving Drunk, Crashing Into Tree

Police say a 39-year-old Harvard woman was injured after she drove drunk and ran into a tree Saturday afternoon, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release. 

Jacqualyn F. Mankowski was driving her 2001 Buick LeSabre in the 4600 block of Countryside Lane in unincorporated Harvard when the single-vehicle crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 2, according to the news release. 

Emergency officials responded and freed Mankowski from the vehicle after she became trapped. She was then flown by helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital and was found to have non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Mankowski has been charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce sped to avoid a crash and expired registration. A $3,000 bond has been set and Mankowski is next expected in court on Dec. 13.
