Overnight Crystal Lake House Fire Causes $15K in Damage

The fire at 544 Portsmouth Court in Crystal Lake was contained to a garage.




An overnight house fire at 544 Portsmouth Court in Crystal Lake caused about $15,000 in damage.

Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue Department was called to the house at 3:07 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. 

Fire Battalion Chief Thomas Pollnow said first arriving Crystal Lake units reported smoke coming from the garage of the home. Firefighters on scene initiated the fire attack as they confirmed that there was no one in the house. 

The fire was contained to the garage, and was under control in 15 minutes, Pollnow said in a news release.

There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters. The fire is under investigation by the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department. Initial damage estimates are $15,000.00 for the structure. 

Crystal Lake was assisted with the Crystal Lake Building Department and fire resources from Algonquin and Police assistance was from the Crystal Lake Police Department, Pollnow said.
