More Information Revealed in Murder-Suicide

Anthony Rodriguez, 39, of Lake in the Hills, shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, a 39-year-old Carpentersville woman, Friday night in Carpentersville, according to local media reports.

A 39-year-old Lake in the Hills man and the 39-year-old Carpentersville woman he fatally shot before taking his own life Friday had been in a relationship but recently broke up. 

Anthony Rodriguez, 39, with a last known address of Tecumseh Trail in LITH, shot his 39-year-old ex-girlfriend in the 0 to 100 block of Pueblo Drive in Carpentersville around 9:39 p.m. Friday, according to the Daily Herald. Rodriguez then drove to a friend’s home where he shot himself sometime after 10 p.m., the Daily Herald reported. 

Both the victim and Rodriguez are listed as 1991 graduates of Dundee-Crown High School, according to their Facebook pages. Rodriguez attended Northern Illinois University, according to his Facebook page.

Their public Facebook pages also outline a recent break-up between the two. Rodriguez posted several status updates in the days leading up to the murder-suicide indicating how upset he was over the break-up and expressed feelings of helplessness and a desire to "give up."

"I tried my best, but I guess it just wasn't good enough. If it was, she'd be here with me. I hate the broken feeling I have inside and the hopelessness that relentlessly pulls at me making me want to just give up," Rodriguez posted on June 20 on the Facebook page.

No one from the Carpentersville Police Department was available Monday to answer further questions surrounding the murder-suicide, a representative from the police department told Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch Monday. The media representative would be available Tuesday.
