Metra Train Hits Pickup Truck in Fox River Grove

A slow-moving Metra train struck a pickup truck at the Lincoln Avenue crossing in Fox River Grove on Thursday, Dec. 12.

A Metra train struck a pickup truck at about 11:12 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Lincoln Avenue in Fox River Grove, the Northwest Herald is reporting. The pickup driver was traveling eastbound on Route 14, turned right on Lincoln Avenue, drove through the railroad gate crossing, and stopped on the train tracks.

The front end of the pickup was hit by a slow-moving Metra train just arriving at the station. Firefighters had to extricate the man from his truck. The unidentified man was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, the Herald reports.
