Update: Man Accused Of Attacking Woman Downtown CL

Crystal Lake police are looking for more information about the attack that occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.

The is asking anyone with information regarding an aggravated battery incident that occurred June 6 to contact them. 

According to police, a 38-year-old woman was attacked in an alleyway on the east side of N. Williams Street between Woodstock and Brink’s streets shortly after 4 p.m. 

The woman was walking alone in the alley when she was approached by a white male who had his hand in his pocket and implied he had a firearm that he would use to harm her if she didn’t do as he said or tried to call for help.

The offender grabbed the victim and tried to lead her to a more secluded location in the alley, striking her twice in the face. After a brief struggle, the victim broke free and fled. She immediately notified police. When police responded, they were unable to find the offender. 

“She received minor injuries to her face,” said Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Eugene Lowery. “She was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released.”

Lowery declined to add further details at this time as the investigation is ongoing. 

The suspect appeared to be in his mid-30’s, with blue eyes and approximately 5’8” tall, weighing approximately 175 to 200 pounds. He appeared to be unshaven and unkempt and had a spider web tattoo on the left side of his neck. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a white tee shirt with a black design on the front and a black pair of pants.
