LITH Teens Charged After Airsoft Guns Used on Trick-or-Treaters

No one was injured in the incident that took place in the 2900 block of Geneva Lane about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

Four Lake in the Hills teens were arrested about 4:30 p.m. Monday after firing Airsoft guns out their vehicle window at trick-or-treaters. 

The teens were driving in a car in the 2900 block of Geneva Lane when they shot the Airsoft guns at parents and children trick-or-treating in the area, said Lake in the Hills police Sgt. Eric Decker.

No one was injured. Parents quickly flagged down a police officer patrolling in the area. The officer subsequently located the teens and arrested them.

The teens — all 16 years old and all from Lake in the Hills — face various charges stemming from the incident. 

One of the boys was charged with two counts of reckless conduct, two were charged with disorderly conduct and the fourth was charged with two counts of reckless conduct and was issued a notice to appear for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. All the teens later were released to their parents.

An Airsoft gun is used mainly for recreational purposes and resembles a BB gun, but instead of firing metal bullets or pellets, it shoots off "plastic projectiles," Decker said.
