LITH Police Department Looks to Join Narcotics Task Force

The police department will also soon take over dispatch calls for Marengo and Union.

The Lake in the Hills Police Department will soon take over police dispatch calls for Union and Marengo, according to a Northwest Herald article.

The start date for that transition is May 2, according to the Northwest Herald, and a full-time communications person is expected to be hired soon to assist the police department.

This move comes after Marengo decided to close its dispatch center. Marengo had handled dispatch calls for Union, according to the Northwest Herald.

Lake in the Hills Police Department Chief Jim Wales said the communities affected by the transition should "not notice a difference in service during or after the changeover," according to the Northwest Herald article.

The police department is also looking to join the McHenry County Narcotics Task Force.

The police department is seeking approval from the village board to allow an officer to join the task force on a part time basis, according to the Northwest Herald.
