LITH, Huntley Cops to Teach Parents About Dangers of Synthetic/Designer Drugs

Local police departments hosting presentation April 12 at Marlowe Middle School for families.

 

Have you heard of K2, ‘Incense’, ‘Spice,’ Bath Salts, Ivory Wave, Vanilla Sky, or Purple Irises? Did you know that these are all forms of

The consequences of using these designer drugs range from severe illness, labored breathing and rapid heartbeats to extreme paranoia and delusions, and in some cases even death.

In an effort to educate and protect students, Marlowe Middle School will host a presentation conducted by the Lake in the Hills Police Department, in conjunction with the Huntley and Algonquin Police Departments, on the dangers and deceptive marketing of these and other new synthetic/designer drugs.

Headed up by D.A.R.E. Officer Pete Albanese of the Lake in the Hills Police Department, the presentation will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12 in the gymnasium at Marlowe Middle School,  9625 Haligus Road, Lake in the Hills.

This free presentation is open to the public. Middle school and high school students are encouraged to attend with their parents.
