Johnsburg Nurse Arrested in Aggravated Battery

Police say Annette Freels, 44, was shaking and cursing at a 3-year-old child.

A 44-year-old Johnsburg nurse has been arrested for battery after police said she was shaking and cursing at a disabled child for whom she cares.

Annette Freels, of the 4600 block of Spring Grove Road, a registered nurse who provides in-home health care to a disabled 3-year-old in Wonder Lake, was charged with aggravated battery. She is being held on $15,000 bail.

McHenry County sheriff’s police responded to a battery complaint Monday at a home in Wonder Lake. According to authorities, early Monday morning, the child’s mother saw Freels sleeping in the living room and was awakened a short time later by an alarm, indicating the child was in need of medical assistance. Police said Freels entered the child’s room and cursed at the child while shaking the child’s right arm. The mother intervened and told Freels to leave her home.
