House Damaged In Algonquin Fire

A home in the first block of Filip Road was damaged in a fire Saturday, Sept. 29.

No one was injured in a fire in the first block of Filip Road in Algonquin Saturday, Sept. 29.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched to the home after a passerby saw smoke and flames.

Firefighters arrived on the scene by 6:36 p.m. and encountered heavy flames and smoke pouring out of the house, a press release states. The fire had already broken through the roof when firefighters arrived.

"Fire crews initiated an aggressive interior attack but changed to a defensive one when it became apparent that the roof would collapse," a press release states. "Crews remained on the scene until after 9:30 p.m. investigating the fire and securing the home."

The cause of the fire has not been determined and no damage estimate was available.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by Carpentersville, Huntley, Crystal Lake, Barrington, and Cary fire departments. McHenry County Animal Control also assisted at the scene.
