Home Damaged by Two Previous Blazes Catches Fire Again

Submitted by the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District. 

On Saturday, May 24, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection was dispatched for a structure fire at 370 Glenwood Court, Algonquin, IL.  

Dispatch was notified by a neighbor who discovered smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home.

First arriving crews were on the scene at 12:35 a.m., and found a single story home with smoke and flames showing from the roof and the rear of the home. Dispatch reported that the house had been abandoned.  

Fire crews initially put the fire out from the outside of the structure. When the home was determined safe for entry crews searched the entire structure for victims and more fire. The fire was declared out and crews stayed on the scene until 4:30 a.m. investigating.

The house was unoccupied at the time of the incident and there were no civilian or fire personnel injuries. The home had been vacant since two previous fires that caused extensive damage in 2012 and 2013.

The fire is still under investigation at this time. Assistance with the investigation was provided by the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received assistance from Huntley, Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, East Dundee, Fox River Grove, Cary, Nunda, Elgin, Rutland-Dundee, and Barrington-Countryside Fire Departments.
