Girl, 7, Injured in Hit-and-Run; Police Searching for Driver

A green sedan struck a 7-year-old girl on Veterans Parkway in McHenry on Saturday afternoon and drove off without stopping.

A 7-year-old girl was injured Saturday after she was hit by a green sedan at 12:30 p.m. on Veterans Parkway in McHenry, the Northwest Herald reports. The driver sped off and did not stop to assist the child. 

McHenry Police and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District responded to the accident, and transported the young girl to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, the Herald reports. 

A reader posted on the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Facebook page that friends and family are seeking the public's help in finding the hit-and-run driver.

"The diver hit a 7-year-old girl, watched her fly over the top of the car, and then proceeded to take off," the reader wrote.
