Fire in Abandoned Algonquin Home Under Investigation

The blaze was reported at 370 Glenwood Court in Algonquin at 7:52 a.m. Saturday.

The cause of a fire at 370 Glenwood Court in Algonquin Saturday morning is under investigation.

The blaze was reported at 7:52 a.m. by a neighbor who saw smoke coming from the abandoned home and called dispatch, according to a Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District press release.

Firefighters determined the blaze started in the stairwell of the single-story home. The blaze "burned away the stairs for the entire home," according to the press release.

No one was in the home at the time of the blaze. A firefighter was injured in the fire and was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries and was later released.

The amount of damage caused by the blaze is not known and what caused the fire remains under investigation.
