Fire District Asks for Help Filling the Boot

The final events of the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District's Fill the Boot for MDA Campaign will take place in the coming days.

is wrapping up its “Fill the Boot Campaign” for MDA in the coming days with a few final fund-raising events.

Today fifteen percent of all food purchases from  will go toward the fund-raiser . 

Firefighters and paramedics will also be on hand at from 4 to 8 p.m. as part of the "Touch-A-Truck" event, said Kevin Raether, a firefighter/paramedic with the fire protection district.

The “Fill the Boot” campaign is part of an effort by fire departments across the nation to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The has a goal of raising $10,000. So far, they have raised $9,171, Raether said.

The final fund-raising events for the Fill the Boot campaign will be Monday and Tuesday.

Firefighters and paramedics will be standing outside Joe Caputo and Sons in Algonquin and at the intersection of North Randall Road and West Acorn Lane in Lake in the Hills on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. where they will be “filling their boots” with donations from the public.
