Downed Power Lines, Fire at Taco Bell Reported in Crystal Lake

Both incidents forced a section of Route 14 to close during rush hour Monday.

Downed power lines and then a fire reported at a Taco Bell closed a portion of Route 14 in Crystal Lake Monday. 

All lanes on Route 14 from Crystal Lake Avenue to Dole Avenue have now re-opened, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department Nixle report sent out at 6:45 p.m. Monday. 

The police department sent out an initial Nixle alert at 4:44 p.m. regarding downed power lines along Route 14. Police first closed Route 14 from North Shore Drive to Dole Avenue but then extended the closure from Dole Avenue to Crystal Lake Avenue.

Another alert was sent out at 5:44 p.m. Monday regarding a fire at the Taco Bell on Route 14 and that the road would remain closed from Crystal Lake Avenue to Dole Avenue.
