Crews Extinguish Fire in Two-Story Algonquin Home

No one was injured, but damage is expected to be significant.

Crews responded to a house fire at 1115 Springhill Drive in Algonquin Monday night after a neighbor discovered a fire in the gargage of the home, according to a news release from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District. No injuries were reported.

When crews arrived at 9:01 p.m., they found the entire two-story home was on fire, according to the news release. 

The Incident Commander immediately upgraded the alarm to the 2nd level and crews initiated an aggressive exterior attack. The fire was declared out at  9:57 p.m. Crews remained on the scene until after midnight investigating the fire and securing the home.

Investigators on the scene have not yet determined the cause of the fire. A damage amount is not yet available but is expected to be significant.

The home was being remodeled and it is unknown if there were working smoke detectors in the home.  The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District received assistance from Carpentersville, Huntley, Fox River Grove, Cary, West Dundee, Barrington, Rutland Dundee, East Dundee, Marengo, Nunda, Lakewood, The Salvation Army, and the Red Cross.
