Coroner Releases Identity of Man Killed in McHenry Crash

John Thomas Oliver IV of McHenry was killed in the crash.

The man who was killed Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash in McHenry has been identified as 39-year-old John Thomas Oliver IV of McHenry. 

The McHenry County Coroner's Office ruled Oliver died from multiple injuries due to blunt force trauma after his car collided with a tree at 1000 N. Curran Road in McHenry. He was pronounced dead at 5:05 p.m. Monday, according to a coroner's office news release.

The cause of death remains under investigation by the McHenry County Coroner and toxicology results are pending, according to the press release. The McHenry Police Department is also investigating the death.

The driver in a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon died at the scene, according to the Northwest Herald. 

The accident happened at 4:42 p.m. when a car hit a tree and then started on fire in the 1100 block of Curran Road in McHenry, according to the article. The Northwest Herald reports the crash remains under investigation and the name of the victim is not being released pending notification of his family
