Cary Man Attempted to Bring Hatchet into McHenry County Courthouse

Dustin M. Mancill, 23, was transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for evaluation after he was taken into custody Thursday morning, according to the Northwest Herald.

Cary resident Dustin M. Mancill, 23, was taken into custody Thursday, Jan. 10, after he entered the McHenry County Courthouse in Woodstock with a hatchet tucked inside the front of his pants, the Northwest Herald reports.

At about 8:30 a.m., Mancill entered the courthouse and - per normal security standards - was asked by an officer to remove items from his pockets and take off his coat to be scanned by an X-ray machine, the Herald reports.

Upon seeing the hatchet, a security officer grabbed it and pulled Mancill aside, at which time a scuffle ensued. Mancill was calm at times, and then became aggressive, the story states. He was transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock for evaluation, the Herald reports. Possible charges are pending.

McHenry County Court records show Mancill was scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and aggravated assault of a police officer issued by the Cary Police Department in February 2011.

I'm pretty sure Biden is already organizing an anti-hatchet campaign.

There's a 5 day wait and a background check for all hatchets now.
