Cary Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A 19-year-old Cary man has been arrested on drug charges this past week.

Kyle R. Opfer is charged with unlawful delivery of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a McHenry County Sheriff's Office press release.  A $10,000 bond was set in the case.

On May 23, the Intelligence Led Policing Unit pulled over a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the area of Silver Lake Road and James Way in Cary at 6:30 p.m., according to the press release.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit arrived on scene and conducted a search of the vehicle.

During the search, police said they found 80 grams of marijuana packaged for resale, cannabis oil, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and packaging materials.

As a result of the investigation, the 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer was seized. Sheriff Keith Nygren estimates the street value of the drugs seized at $225.

Opfer is next expected in court on June 5.
