Caputo's Firebombing Suspect May Face More Charges

Fabian J. Torres, 24, of Sleepy Hollow, has been charged with aggravated arson.

Authorities are not saying whether additional charges will be filed against the man accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail in the deli section of the Algonquin Caputo's grocery store Sunday.

“But that’s not to say there aren't going to be further charges made in the future,” said Algonquin Deputy Police Chief Steve Kuzynowski.

Fabian J. Torres, 24, of Sleepy Hollow, has been charged with aggravated arson after police said he threw an incendiary device made from a bottle filled with flammable liquid, injuring one man. According to an article in Trib Local, it is a Class X felony offense that carries a sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections of six to 30 years.

The Algonquin Police Department is working with the McHenry County State's Attorney's office to determine whether any additional charges will be filed against Torres.

Torres is being held on a $2 million bond in the McHenry County jail. A preliminary hearing is set for Friday morning.

At 12:17 p.m. Sunday, the Algonquin police received a call of a fire at Joe Caputo and Son’s Grocery Store, located in the 100 block of South Randall Road.

Witnesses in the grocery store described the object that was thrown in deli section as a "fire bomb."
