Authorities are investigating the death of a 52-year-old inmate who was found dead in her cell at the Kane County Jail Friday afternoon, according to the Daily Herald.
Preliminary autopsy results showed the Elgin woman, Terry A. Hart, died of asphyxiation by hanging, according to the Daily Herald.
Hart was found in her cell at 1:45 p.m. during routine checks and was pronounced dead later that day at Delnor Hospital, according to the Northwest Herald.
