Armed Robbery Investigation Ongoing

Gold and Jewelry Direct, 130 S. Main Street, was robbed by three males with guns and knives April 22.

Algonquin police are still looking for the three men that robbed , 130 S. Main Street, armed with guns and knives the morning of April 22.

Police declined to reveal many details because the investigation is ongoing.

Deputy Chief Steve Kuzynowski said police think that the suspects used a stolen 1986 white Buick to transport themselves to Algonquin. They abandoned the car and left it running at Hill Climb Park. They were then picked up by another unknown light-colored vehicle that used to drive to the jewelry exchange shop.

Officials were able to confirm that the Buick that was found at the park was stolen out of Chicago.

At 9:30 a.m. three Hispanic men dressed in black entered the store  armed with guns and knives. Kuzynowski declined to say how much was stolen, saying the police typically don't reveal that type of information with this type of an investigation.

Police believe the suspects are in their late teens or early 20s and wouldn't say whether they think the suspects are from the area.
