Arrests

Tabitha L. Romaniuk, 17, of the 0 block of Geneva Court, was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer on July 22 at 1:28 a.m. Romaniuk also was charged with resisting/obstructing police, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, illegal possession/transportation of open alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Cannabis less than 2.5 grams, unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property. She was transported to McHenry County Jail.

Dominic Cifonie, 18, of the 9000 block of Bedford, Huntley, was charged with resisting/obstructing police, unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession/transportation of open alcohol. Cifonie also was charged with possession of Cannabis 2.5-10 grams and manufacture/delivery of Cannabis 2.5-10 grams. He was released on bond and his court date is pending.

DUI, Expired License, Disobeying Traffic Signal

Matthew T. Broderick, 26, of the 900 block of Ridge Square, Elk Grove Village, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on July 20 near Randall Road and Algonquin Road. Broderick also was charged with disobeying a traffic control device, driving with an expired license and no insurance. He was released on bond.

Emergency Assist

Police received a call regarding a 4-year-old who was choking in the 700 block of White Pine Circle on July 20 at 5 p.m. An ambulance arrived at the home, police and paramedics were able to assist and no hospital transport was needed.

Identity Theft

A complainant reported to police their social security card number was utilized to open a fraudulent account on July 20 in the 1300 block of Cunat Court. The investigation is ongoing.

Theft

A 16-year-old juvenile from Algonquin was charged with retail theft at Dominicks, 101 N. Randall Road on July 20. The minor was released to parents.

A victim reported to police their vehicle was stolen at 4:26 a.m. July 21 in the 2100 block of Claremont Lane. The case has been turned over to investigations.

Suspended License, Speeding, No Insurance

Walter Ochoa, 27, of the 200 block of Waverly Ct., Carpentersville, was charged with driving while his license was suspended, speeding in a construction zone and no insurance on July 20. Ochoa was released on bond.

ALGONQUIN POLICE BLOTTER

DUI, Speeding

[Name Withheld], 40, of Huntley, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and for speeding on July 21 at Randall Road and Harnish Drive. He posted bond and has a court date scheduled for August 29 in McHenry County.

Warrant

David Bastidas, 21, of the 1000 block of St. Andrews Court, Algonquin, was taken into custody at Edgewood Drive and Ashburton Court July 22 as a result of a Cook County burglary warrant. He was transported to McHenry County jail, and was unable to post bond.
