The Lake in the Hills Police Department left as the game's winner with a final score of 41-32. The game raised $1,000 from donations and entry fees.

Trailing early in the game by 15 points, the Lake in the Hills squad bounced back and dominated in the second half, thanks mainly to the playing of Spencer Deacon, a 21-year-old resident of Lake in the Hills and a member of the Jacob’s Special Olympics Basketball Team.

“We had a few practices for this game,” said Chris Miller, a patrol officer for the Lake in the Hills Police Department and coach of the LITH team. “Spencer was a last-minute addition. He plays pretty well. We named him MVP.”

Deacon made a game-changing three-point shot in the third quarter and finished the game with five points. He set-up some good scoring drives with nifty passes and played well on defense, teammates said.

Miller credits the coach for the Algonquin team, Josh Latina, with coming up with the idea for the fundraiser.
