UPDATE: Driver in 4-Wheeler Rollover Crash Charged with DUI

Timothy P. Ritchie, 40, of McHenry, has been charged with DUI and careless operation of an ATV.

The McHenry man who rolled his four-wheeler and crashed on Sunday has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Timothy P. Ritchie, 40, was cited Monday for DUI, operating an ATV on the roadway, careless operation of an ATV and driving on a revoked license, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

Ritchie was riding the ATV at about 4 p.m. Sunday, when it overturned and landed on top of him near Riverside Drive and Kerry Lane.  

Ritchie was flown by Flight for Life helicopter to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where it was later determined his injuries were not life-threatening, the Sheriff said.

Bond was set at $3,000 for Ritchie, and he is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 18.

A man in his 40s was flown by Flight for Life helicopter at 4 p.m. Sunday after his four-wheeler rolled and crashed. The accident occurred at the intersection of of Riverside Drive and Kerry Lane in unincorporated McHenry County (north of Burton's Bridge).

The man, whose name was not released, was attempting to initiate a turn when the vehicle rolled. The driver was not wearing a helmet and was left unconscious after the crash, the Herald reports. The victim suffered a head injury and was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was listed in fair condition.
