14-Year-Old Girl Charged With Murder of 11-Year-Old Girl in Mundelein

Police were called to the 1600 block of Woodhaven Court in Mundelein at 8:26 a.m. Tuesday where they found the girl dead in her bedroom, according to the Chicago Tribune.

A 14-year-old girl has been charged with the murder of an 11-year-old girl who authorities said was found dead in her Mundelein bedroom Tuesday morning, according to the Daily Herald. 

Police were called to the 1600 block of Woodhaven Court in Mundelein at 8:26 a.m. Tuesday and found the girl dead, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police did not release any details on the cause of death, according to the article. 

Both girls are not being identified because of their age and the teen is expected to appear for a hearing in Vernon Hills on Wednesday while an autopsy is schedule for the 11-year-old girl later Wednesday morning, according to the article. 

The Daily Herald reports it's unknown at this time if the Lake County States Attorney's Office will seek to charge the teen as an adult. 

Following the discovery of the girl's body, Mundelein High School, Mechanics Grove Elementary and Carl Sandburg Middle School were placed on lockdown, according to the Chicago Tribune.
