1-Year-Old Falls From Second Story Window

Cary Fire Protection and McHenry Sheriff respond to incident.

A one-year-old in unincorporated Cary fell through the screen of a second-story bedroom, on May 10.  The Cary Fire Protection District transported the child to Good Shepherd Hospital. No information was available regarding the condition of the child.

According to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the home on the 8300 block of Hickory Nut Grove at 7:56 p.m., along with members from the Cary Fire Protection District.

The child had been playing upstairs with his older brother when the mother, who was downstairs heard a noise. When she got upstairs she noticed the screen of the window was out and the one-year-old was not in the room. The mother found the child outside.

As mandated, the sheriff’s office notified DCFS of the incident, but the sheriff’s office does not expect any law enforcement actions.
