Five Things You Need to Know for Tuesday, Oct. 9

Warmer temperatures are expected for Tuesday with a high of 65 degrees in the forecast. It's expected to be windy with southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph and wind gusts as strong as 35 mph. There is a 30 percent chance of rain showers later in the afternoon. Overnight, expect low temperatures in the mid-40s. 

We would like to congratulate all area residents who participated in this past Sunday's Chicago Marathon. If disc-golfing is your thing, the village of Lake in the Hills will be hosting its first-ever disc golf tournament this weekend. This Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Patch article has more information on the tournament and how to register.

A reminder: Tuesday is the last day that you can register to vote. You can register to vote at either the Algonquin Village Hall, 2600 Harnish Drive, or in the finance department at Lake in the Hills Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

You'll need to bring two types of identification: a driver's license or picture ID and an additional item such as a lease or utility bill. Make sure at least one form of ID lists your current address

So, where else can you register? At the McHenry County Clerk's Office, 2200 N. Seminary Ave in Woodstock, or at the Kane County Clerk's Office in Geneva, 719 Batavia Ave., Bldg. B. 

The State Board of Elections website allows you to check to see if you are registered to vote. 

The village of Lake in the Hills is currently taking nominees for its annual Halloween house-decorating contest, according to the village of LITH Fall Brochure. You can nominate your own house or your neighbor's home by calling the village at 847-960-7460.
