Emmett 'Neal' Conneely Westenberger, 76, of Lake in the Hills

Private services will be held at the Fort Rosecrans Military Cemetery, San Diego, Calif.





Emmett “Neal” Conneely Westenberger, 76, of Lake in the Hills, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2013, from an eight-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Emmett was born June 28, 1937, in Lancaster, PA and moved to San Diego with his parents in 1944.

He graduated from La Mesa High School in 1956, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Emmett served in the Corps until 1963. He was a 1969 graduate of Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz.


Emmett was employed by Motorola Semi-Conductor Division and retired as vice president after 25 years of service. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, and football fan.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mary Westenberger; children, Charles “Chip” (Nicole) Westenberger of South Elgin, Christopher Westenberger of Albuquerque, N.M., and Scott Nicoll and Patti Van Beekum of Gilbert, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; sister, Gail Bartlett of Ukiah, Cal.; three nephews; and his standard poodle, Duchess.

The family thanks JourneyCare Hospice for their care and support of Emmett.

Private services will be held at the Fort Rosecrans Military Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
