Betty Marie Leslie, 79, of Woodstock

Betty Marie Leslie, age 79, a long time resident of Woodstock died at her home on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. 

She was born in Coldrum County in Minnesota on Sept. 2, 1934, the daughter of Edgar William and Marie Cecilia (Korll) Anderson. 

She married her beloved husband Albert J. Leslie on July 11, 1960, at Our Lady of the Lourdes Church in Little Falls, Minn.

Betty spent her childhood on the Minnesota farm and went on to study music at the MacPhail School of Music in Minneapolis, Minn. She brought her love of music to McHenry County and was active in many local organizations over the years including The Woodstock Opera House, McHenry County Chamber Singers, and McHenry County Youth Orchestra.

She had a strong faith and great belief in family values that was evident in her public and private life. She and her husband were active members of the Resurrection Parish and she was a frequent volunteer at the First Way Life Center of Johnsburg.

Betty was a devoted mother and since she loved to travel, she enjoyed visits with her children in far off places, such as Europe, Africa, and Thailand and throughout the U.S.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Albert in 2008 after 47 years of marriage and her parents Edgar and Marie Anderson.

She is survived by four daughters Marie (William) Schretzmann, Andrea (Steve) Fraley, Kirsten and Regina; a son John (Sukhon) Leslie; five grandchildren Faith, Rangsiman, Patrick, Methani and Elizabeth; her sister Karen and brother Gordon.

Visitation will be at the Resurrection Church at 2918 Country Club Rd., Woodstock, on Wednesday Dec. 4, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

 Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Woodstock.
