McHenry County College Announces Scholarships Available for Fall Semester

McHenry County College is accepting registration for the Presidential Talent Scholarship and the Founding Faculty Scholarship.

McHenry County College is accepting registration for two separate scholarships that will be awarded to several students, including the Presidential Talent Scholarship and the Founding Faculty Scholarship.

The Presidential Scholarship, MCC’s most prestigious scholarship, is awarded each year to qualified high school seniors based on academic achievement,
extra-curricular activities and community involvement. Recipients will receive
a maximum of 60 credit hours of tuition (in district) at MCC, which is
typically two years’ worth of tuition. Recipients are required to enroll in at
least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester, maintain at least a 3.0
cumulative GPA, and complete 15 service hours each fall and spring semester.


Applicants are required to submit their high school transcript with ACT or SAT
scores in a sealed envelope from the high school and two letters of
recommendation on official stationery from high school teachers, school
officials or community leaders. An essay of up to 1,000 words on “How this
scholarship will change or impact my life” is also required, along with an
overview of educational and career goals.

The McHenry County College Founding Faculty scholarship is awarded in recognition of more than 30 years’ worth of contributions from retired founding faculty of McHenry County College. Three scholarships worth 60 tuition credit hours each at MCC will be awarded. Recipients must enroll in at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA at MCC.

Applicants are required to submit a short, one-page essay describing an
exceptional teacher they’ve had and how that individual has impacted their
educational pursuits.

Deadline to apply for both of these scholarships is June 10. Applications are available at www.mchenry.edu/financialaid/scholarships
or in the Financial Aid Office, Room A262 at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S.
