Slow Cooker Summer Pulled Pork

You can ditch the expensive meat smoker to make this pulled-pork sandwich.

This recipe is so easy that you don’t even need any measuring cups or spoons. It all cooks in the slow cooker or Crock Pot.

Ingredients Needed:

3 lbs (boneless) pork shoulder

Water

Garlic salt

Onion salt

Black pepper

Brown sugar

1 jar of barbecue sauce

Hamburger buns

Cooking Steps:

Step 1: Cut off the large layer of fat that runs along the pork shoulder. If a little is left on, that is fine.

Step 2: Rinse the pork shoulder in water and then rub the dry ingredients generously over the entire surface of the pork.

Step 3: Place the pork into the slow cooker and turn on to low setting.

Step 4: Pour enough water to cover about half the pork on the sides. Add about 1/3 of the barbecue sauce to the water.

Step 5: Let this mixture cook for 10 hours.

Step 6: Shred the pork right in the slow cooker using tongs or forks by pulling it apart. The pork will be so tender it will literally fall apart when you touch it with the utensils.

Step 7: Add the remaining barbecue sauce to the mixture of pulled pork and juices and stir.

Step 8: Let this mixture cook for another hour on low setting.

Serve on hamburger buns or white bread.

Leftovers can be eaten for months as all you need to do is freeze the cooked pork and then heat up in the microwave and put on fresh buns. When reheating in the microwave, sometimes additional barbecue sauce is needed.

Enjoy!!!
