A Look at Suburban Metra Stops, Income Levels

A look at income levels in suburban towns with Metra stops provides a glimpse at the disparity in wealth throughout the area, according to an interactive map posted on Crain's Chicago Business Journal. 

Among all Chicago and suburban Metra stops, nearby Cary ranked as the 40th highest income with an average income of $98,454 while Crystal Lake ranked as the 78th highest income at $78,488, according to Crain's.

On the northwest line, the Barrington stop had the highest income level, ranking as the 17th highest income at $120,880. The Metra station that ranked as number one was in Kennilworth where the average income came in at $242,188, according to Crain's
