McHenry County Historical Society held "Historic Halloween" on Oct. 16.

The Historic Halloween presentation was held Wednesday, Oct. 16. This year’s Historic Halloween Haunting recounted four cases of murder and mayhem – as told by the tragically deceased.
Urban, a Marengo resident, portrayed Edith Hawver of Chemung. Hawyer was nearly killed by her husband in 1915. Hawver eventually forgave her husband and remarried him after his release from prison.
They are buried in the Big Foot Cemetery.
