Recycle Hay Bale Decorations at Algonquin-LITH Food Pantry

Don't dump those hay bales! Bring them to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Food Pantry.

Don't know what to do with those hay bales you bought as part of your Halloween decorations?

Don't throw them out with the trash. Drop them off at the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry at 1113 Pyott Rd., Lake in the Hills.

Pantry master gardener Laurie Selpien said volunteers will recycle bales and put them to good use in the food pantry gardens.

"This is the time of year when straw bales are bought for fall decorations and then thrown in the garbage afterward," Selpien said.

"This year instead of sending the bales to the dump, we are asking for them to be donated to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry Garden."

Area residents can drop straw bales off, and leave them near the raised garden bed adjacent to the food pantry building, Selpien said.
