Georgio's Awarding Year's Worth Free Pizza to Millionth Customer

Georgio's Pizza will give the customers who order the millionth and millionth-and-one pizzas "free pizza for a year."

Georgio's Pizza is closing in on a major milestone in the pizza business: Serving up its one millionth pie.

Brian Coli, who has owned and managed the business since opening 11 years ago at 75 E. Woodstock St. in Crystal Lake, expects to sell that one millionth pizza within the month.

“I can’t tell you exactly when I think the one millionth pizza will be sold without giving up the surprise, but I can say it will be any day now,” Coli said. “We’ll be well over a million before Christmas.”

The lucky customer who purchases the one millionth pizza while dining in at the restaurant will receive free Georgio’s pizza for a year - one free pizza every month for 12 months.

And since Georgio's two years ago opened a pizzeria at 100 W. Higgins Road in the South Barrington Arboretum, the same prize will be given to the customer ordering the 1,000,001 pizza (one winner per restaurant).

Georgio’s also plans to donate the same yearly prize in the form of gift certificates to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry in Crystal Lake and Project Hope Food Pantry of Barrington.

“We are so thankful for the support we have had from our patrons in Crystal Lake for the past decade, and in South Barrington for the past two years,” Coli said.

“Giving back is something Georgio’s has always believed in, and what better way to celebrate our one millionth pizza sale than to share it with the communities in which we serve.”

Georgio's is known for its Chicago-style, deep dish pizza, and also serves thin crust pizza, pasta, sandwiches, soups, and salads. The restaurant earned the  “Best Pizza” nod by the “Best of the Fox” awards seven years in a row.

On a national level, Georgio’s received the “Best Deep Dish” award at the 2012 Chicago Pizza Fest and is featured regularly in Pizza Today, a national magazine that lists Georgio’s as one of its “Hot 100 Independent Pizzerias in the Nation.”
