Fundraiser Planned for Cary Ski Jumper Aiming for Winter Olympics

Fundraiser will help local ski jumper reach his dream of making the U.S. Ski Jumping Team at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

A fundraiser for area ski jumper Mike Glasder is planned for this Saturday night at the Norge Ski Training Center in Fox River Grove.

Glasder is striving to make the U.S. Olympic Ski Jump Team and compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

"Michael needs help to finance training abroad, airfare, competition entry fees, equipment, and room and board. These next few months are EXTREMELY critical to earning points and gaining momentum to get him closer to being part of our U.S. ski jumping team in Sochi Russia for the 2014 XXII Winter Olympics," according to his fundraiser page on Eventbrite.

The fundraiser dinner is set from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Norge Training Center, 100 Ski Hill Rd., Fox River Grove. Admission is $30.

Attendees will enjoy a four-course meal with beer pairings from Lagunitas. Those who can't make the event, but want to donate can visit the Mike Glasder Eventbrite website to make a donation. Visit the website to purchase tickets.

More information about Glasder's quest to make the Olympic team can be found on the Mike Glasder Ski Jumping Facebook page.
