A woman who died after being pulled from a car that was found floating in a pond in 6 to 8 feet of water at Harper College has been identified.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office has identified the woman as 64-year-old Victoria Auer of Rolling Meadows. Harper College officials said that Auer took several continuing education classes at the college in 1997 and 1998.



Palatine police are charging a physician's assistant with Vista Health Center of Cook County with criminal sexual abuse after an investigation showed he touched a patient inappropriately.

Alejandro Sanchez, 48, of Berwyn, has been charged with criminal sexual abuse because of an incident that was reported to police on Oct. 27, police said. The incident occured at Vista Health Center's office inside the Palatine Opportunity Center, 1585 N. Rand Rd.



Two people are dead after a plane that took off from the Lake in the Hills Airport crashed in south Central Wisconsin, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane—a Cessna 150—crashed around 6:30 p.m. Sunday about 15 miles southwest of Baraboo, Wis., said FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory.



Stanley J. Helmer, 58, of 6105 Miller Lane in Cary, appeared in the Woodstock court today for his preliminary hearing regarding the felony charges of soliciation to commit murder to hire.

Illinois State Police Department charged Helmer for solicitation to commit murder to hire and aggravated battery to do great bodily harm, according to McHenry County court records.



Wingate works out five to six days per week, perfecting his grip, working on his balance and dexterity. One exercise the 20-year-old rock climber does is extraordinary – one-finger pull-ups.  Wingate weighs about 165 pounds and uses one finger to support all his weight.

“It strengthens the tendons in my fingers,” Wingate said. “I’ve been doing this exercise for a couple years. I do all this training indoors so I’ll be better outdoors.”
