Western Bypass Building Demolition Scheduled to Start Today on Algonquin Road

The Algonquin Roadhouse, Burnex Corp. and Parkside Auto are among the six buildings that will be torn down to make room for the new bypass.

There are six buildings alongside Algonquin Road that will be torn down starting this week.

The buildings set to be demolished include the Algonquin Roadhouse, Burnex Corp., Parkside Auto and other farm buildings, said Village Manager Bill Ganek.

According to a Northwest Herald article, the demolition process is scheduled to be completed by July 1.

The next phase of the project includes a bid for a grading project, which was originally scheduled to be awarded in March has been pushed back to an unknown future date.

At a recent village board meeting, Ganek said that the village is having initial discussions with the Illinois Department of Transportation to have a jurisdictional transfer of the downtown portion of Route 31, which is also Main Street.
