Village to Hire New Airport Manager

The Deputy Public Works Director is also in charge of managing the Lake in the Hills Airport.

The village is one step closer to hiring a new deputy public works director.

The village stopped accepting applications for the position in recent weeks, said Fred Mullard, Lake in Hills Public Works Director. While he could not say how many applicants will be considered for the job, Mullard said candidates must have prior public works experience to be considered.

The position became vacant when T.J. Moore, who held the job for one year, left the village to work for the city of Des Plaines, Mullard said.

Aside from responsibilities in the village, the new hire will also have the title of manager of the LITH Airport and will be responsible for managing leases and seeing to it that the airport is in compliance with FAA regulations, Mullard said.

"We don't have a full-time manager,'' Mullard said of the airport, adding it has always been a part of the deputy public works director's job. For now, Mullard is carrying the extra workload.

Starting salary for the position is between $72,000 and $92,000, Mullard said.
