UPDATE: Area Resident Shows Support for Mercy, Addresses Board

The state of Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board met Tuesday and will hear proposals for two McHenry County hospitals.

Dan Colby of Harvard was the first speaker Tuesday morning in support of Mercy Health System’s Crystal Lake hospital.

Colby criticized Centegra Health System for ignoring Crystal Lake for years then “bypassing” the area for the “growth and money” of Huntley.

He said the Crystal Lake area has the larges area of Medicaid recipients in the county. It has the greatest need, he said.

He also said Mercy would be ready to start building its hospital sooner then Centegra.

“Mercy Health Care is the right project at the right place at the right time,” Colby said.
