UPDATE: Start of Snow Delayed

Snow will intensify this afternoon with heaviest snowfall from 2-7 p.m., then letting up.

Flurries are expected to develop between 9 and 11 a.m. with a general light snow after 11 a.m. Snow will intensify this afternoon with heaviest snowfall from 2-7 p.m., then letting up, according to meteorologists at Murray and Trettel Weather Command.

The nearest snow was over southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. However, in the clouds, snow was over Rockford and areas west of I-39.

High near 19. Wind chill values as low as -1, according to the National Weather Service. East wind around 5 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Streets Superintendent Al Mozola is reminding residents that there is no parking on village streets after 2 inches of snowfall. He also asks homeowners not to throw snow from driveways back into the street, as it creates a hazard and is against the law. He added that drivers should slow down and wear seat belts.

Thursday 10 a.m.

A lot of snow is coming our way to go along with the frigid temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to fall this evening to around 5 degrees, with a wind chill of -10. Wind gusts up to 20 miles per hour are also expected.

Snow is expected to start falling in Algonquin Friday morning and continue throughout the day and evening.

Snow total accumulations could be six inches or more.The heaviest snow is expected to begin in the afternoon and continue into early Friday evening with snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour, according to the NWS. Wind chills are expected to be around -7 degrees.
